The innovative tracking system for ground-mounted installation

SolarWorld presents Suntrac, its innovative tracking system for ground-mounted installation. Suntrac, which can be equipped with 32 or 48 SolarWorld Sunmodule Plus  modules, brings together innovative sensor control technology and astronomic timing.

Following the sun

Solar power systems generate the highest possible output when they are positioned at a right angle to the sun. Factors that play a major role here are the position in relation to the sun and other environmental conditions. Since the sun’s position not only changes consistently throughout the day but also throughout the year and because other environmental conditions are also subject to temporary fluctuations, solar power systems set up in fixed locations are only able to capitalize one part of their potential.

The intelligent solution for maximum output

Suntrac follows the sun’s course and always finds the optimum angle to the sun to generate the maximum amount of energy. As a result of its astronomical tracking ability with optional support from sensors, the angle at which the sunlight strikes the modules remains constant throughout the day. However, SolarWorld’s Suntrac not only makes use of each hour of direct sunlight, it also uses diffused light – all year long. This way, photovoltaic modules are able to generate the maximum output any time of day, increasing output by up to 35 percent over solar power systems in fixed locations. This surplus makes the units much more cost efficient and leads to a quicker amortization of any investment.
