SolarWorld AG increases EBIT by 31 per cent to 35.1 million EUR in first quarter in spite of reduced solar module prices
04-05-07v3Against the background of a high international demand SolarWorld AG expanded its business group wide in the first quarter of 2007. In comparison with the same quarter last year group sales rose by 60% to 132.8 (previous year: 83.2) million EUR. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by 31 per cent to 35.1 (previous year: 26.7) million EUR. The annual surplus grew by 30 per cent to 21.4 (previous year: 16.5) million EUR. Sales reflect the increased production quantities and in the final analysis also the cost reductions achieved at all levels of the value chain. In addition to the good supply of domestic contract partners at reduced prices the rate of foreign business could be raised by about 17 percentage points since the end of the year (43 per cent) to about 60 per cent.
