The Einstein Award

Einstein Award

AG has been awarding the SolarWorld Einstein Award, one of photovoltaic industry's awards with the highest prize money, to deserving personalities from science, business and politics in the field of photovoltaics and who have made a key contribution in advancing and using solar power technologies. The prize winners in previous years include 2010 Nobel prize winner Prof. Muhammed Yunus (inventor of micro credit), 2009 Dr. Rupert Neudeck (founder of the relief organizations Cap Anamur and Green Helmets), 2008 Prof. Antonio Luque-Lopez (Spanish photovoltaic pioneer), 2007 Dr. Martin Green (developer of the most efficient monocrystalline solar cell), 2006 Dr. Adolf Goetzberger (founder of the Fraunhofer Institute for solar energy systems) and 2005 Dr. Klaus Töpfer (former Federal German Environment Minister and head of the UN Environment Program at that time).

The SolarWorld Junior Einstein Award has also been organized since 2006. The prize with a purse of € 5,000 is geared towards young researchers who can apply with their scientific dissertations concerning photovoltaics or related topics. The Junior Einstein award aims to get young skilled workers interested in the solar industry and promote their innovative ideas. With this award, SolarWorld AG is again demonstrating its social commitment to advancing solar power technologies.
